Hamza Dirani is the youngest champion in the history of motor-sports in Jordan and the first Jordanian to participate in Formula races.
He was the fatest in Karting for the years 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006.
Q1) When did your love for racing start?
It started racing since I was 16 years old but my love for racing started ever since birth for all I remember.
Q2) Who inspired you to race?
That would definitely be my dad and family; my dad got me a 3 wheeled Motorbike and encouraged me to race. My dad use to be a Karting & rally racing fanatic.
Q3) Tell us about what it’s like to be a Formula driver?
I can’t describe it, its amazing “a totally euphoric feeling”. It was the best drive I ever had, and what’s cool about it is the faster you go the better it gets!! The car could reach 270Km per-hour.
Q4) what is your favorite car of all time?
The original 1984 Ferrari GTO. That is probably the best car ever.
Q5) You’ve been racing for 10 years now, how have you seen the sport evolve in Jordan?
Well, to be quite honest, it technically started improving almost 2 years ago. In karting we started purchasing new and improved racing cars like the new water-cooled engines Kart cars. The industry is also getting more competitive and challenging. I would also like to thank Jordan-Motorsport and the Royal Automobile Club for their unlimited support.
Q6) Tell us about the Karting School you established?
It started when I use to coach young drivers how to Kart; Mr. Tariq Tabaa helped me a lot regarding this matter. My sole goal of starting this school is to transfer all the information I have to the youth and make great racing drivers out of them.
Q7) Are you considering going back to Formula racing?
I don’t think so, you see the cost is extremely high and sponsors are more attracted to sponsor rally ream due to Jordan becoming part of the WRC championship.
Q8) Who is your motorsport idol?
Internationally: Ari Vantenen Group-B rally driver
Regionally: Mohammad Bin Sulayem
Formula 1: Michael Schumacher
Q9) What is Hamza up to nowadays?
I’m participating in the Middle-East Karting championship; it’s a 3-round championship that started in January 2008. I finished it 3rd over all behind the champion of Austria, Kevin Richard and the Italian Piero De Marchi
We would like to profoundly thank Hamza for giving us out of his time and from the entire JC team, we wish him the best of luck.
